About the Minor Pentatonic Scale
The minor pentatonic scale is a five-note scale. It can be derived from the major scale using the following formula: 1 b3 4 5 b7. The scale can also be constructed using the natural minor scale with the formula: 1 3 4 5 7.
Moving a minor pentatonic pattern down three frets results in a major pentatonic scale on the same root. For example, moving an A minor pentatonic pattern down three frets yields the A major pentatonic scale.
